Altenew Build-A-Flower: Build-A-Flower: Parrot Tulips Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

I don't like to play favorites, but I think this Build-A-Flower Parrot Tulip Stamp and Die Set may be one of my all-time faves from this line.

Today's Parrot Tulips Blog Hop showcases a range of beautiful things that you can do with this set. If you have been following along from the start, you only have one more stop after me when you visit Therese Calvird and trust me, it is worth the trip!

Don't forget to comment and check out the Giveaway details so you can be eligible to win a prize! The Altenew products used in both of my projects are linked at the bottom of the post.

For those of you who have visited me here, usually I am a bit of what my Nana would call a "talker", but I am going to restrain myself today and jump directly into the cards! After all, isn't that why you are here? LOL

Card 1 - Welcome To The World

I must confess, I built no flowers in either of my projects today, but the cuteness factor is this first one is quite high, so I hope you will forgive me. :-)

I can't remember the last time that I made a Baby Card, but I definitely need one for my stash with all the little ones that my co-workers are welcoming!

My original card sketch had me layering my tulip in shades of orange and pink, but my color choices weren't quite right. So I abandoned that idea and got completely distracted by this gorgeous third layer of the tulip bloom shown below in the layering guide:

Something about that layer reminds me of richly-detailed patterned fabric that I would see my Nana use when making curtains or doing upholstery.

And that my friends, how we ended up here with me repeatedly stamping this layer in beautiful Blush Crisp Dye Ink to create a background.

With that stamped, I colored some white cardstock by running the Blush Mini Ink Cube by gently running the ink pad itself directly across the paper to give slightly uneven "shabby chic" finish to the cardstock.

I used one layer of the Layered Gift Tag - Heart Die Set to cut out my heart, before I finished my heart tag with sentiments from Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set , Green Fields Enamel Dots and a little burlap twine loop from my stash. I used the Featured Sentiments Die Set for my pop of black on the Welcome to the World sentiment.

I can't wait to put this in the mail to one of the new parents!

Card 2 - Love Without Limits

Both of my cards have a completely different vibe but they share similar ideas, I used repeat stamping again of the tulip leaves for a contemporary that my hubby would not deign to scoff at for being fussy. LOL

Given that my first color combo had ended rather badly, I decided to stick with the recommended Dye Inks from the Layering Guide: Mountain Pine and Parrot.

I varied the height of the leaves and overlapped some of them for visual interest on the card front.

I thought that this sentiment from the stamp set somehow sit the mood of the repeating pattern. In m head, the leaves go on forever and so does this love.

I did flirt with adding some of my favorite embellishments (Enamel Dots, I'm looking at you...), but sometimes all you need is stamp, ink and paper.

How's that for a clean and simple card???

Altenew has another discounted bundle available for you this month that includes the stamp, dies and beautifully curated inks that will bring your tulip to life: Build-A-Flower: Parrot Tulips Layering Stamp & Die Set & Ink Bundle (5% off).
