Coloring a pre-embossed or detailed line-art image like this wreath is definitely an ambitious move! With so many intertwining vines, tiny acorns, oak leaves, and mini pumpkins, it takes a steady hand and a bit of patience.

PALETTE

  • Deep Green Leaves:Ā YG63, YG67, G99

PROJECT DETAILS

To give this wreath an authentic, glowing autumn feel, I pulled out a warm harvest palette:

  • Warm Pumpkins:Ā Rich, vibrant oranges like Carved PumpkinĀ and Ripe PersimmonĀ tones, blended with lighter yellow-orange highlights.

  • Lush Autumn Foliage:Ā A mix of golden mustard yellows (Wild Honey), deep harvest reds (Lumberjack Plaid), and woodland forest greens (Peeled PaintĀ & Forest Moss).

  • Twisting Grapevines & Acorns:Ā Earthy chocolate browns (Gathered TwigsĀ & Rusty Hinge) to give the woven wreath base realistic depth.

Coloring Tip:Ā When coloring detailed images with alcohol markers, start with your lightest shade across the entire section, flick in your darkest shadow along the embossed line-work, and blend back out with your mid-tone. This keeps the tiny details crisp without bleeding outside the lines!

šŸ’§Ā The Magic Step: Dimensional Shine with Glossy Accents

Once the Copic coloring was complete, I wanted to take the realistic 3D texture to a whole new level! So, I grabbed my bottle of Ranger Glossy AccentsĀ and got to work.

Carefully applying Glossy Accents over individual berries, pumpkins, and leaf surfaces adds a glass-like liquid shine that brings each element to life.

  • The Patience Test:Ā Applying Glossy Accents requires a steady squeeze to avoid air bubbles, and you mustĀ let it dry completely (without touching!) for a crystal-clear, durable epoxy dome finish.

  • The Fussy-Cutting Workout:Ā Once dry, fussy-cutting around all those delicate leaf tips and vine twigs gives you a stunning, stand-alone focal piece ready to pop up on your card front!

šŸ› ļøĀ Card Assembly & Framing

  1. Craft the Card Base:Ā Cut a warm kraft or camel cardstock base with a subtle arched or rounded edge detail to mirror the organic curve of the wreath.

  2. Stamp the Sentiment:Ā In the bottom right corner, stamp a heartwarming sentiment like "JUST SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU"Ā in deep espresso brown ink.

  3. Mount the Wreath:Ā Use foam squares behind the fussy-cut, Glossy-Accented wreath to elevate it off the kraft base. The added lift creates realistic drop shadows beneath the glossy vines!

  4. Finish with Warm Matting:Ā Pair the card panel with vibrant pumpkin-orange and rich red envelopes to tie the autumn color story together!
