Almost 1 year ago I used Distress Reinkers, Watercolor Cardstock and Sprayer to create a rainbow of Distress Watercolor Backgrounds. I've linked the tutorial here. I've been using the backgrounds since then and they came in handy for this card.
Card Tips:
Moths from the Moth Study set are stamped in black ink onto small pieces of the background and fussy-cut
The skull from the Rest In Peace set is also fussy-cut and the shaping tools are used to distress it, give the eyes a slightly sunken look and make the nose pop out a bit
Be fearless with the Flickering Candle Mica stain. I removed the spray-top and used the "straw-shaped" end of the nozzle to drop splashes of the stain onto the black cardstock and dabbed it around with my finger for an accidental messy effect
Use Sticky Grid for placing your alphabet dies closer together and maximizing your precious gold metallic cardstock
The mostly black and white color palette really allows the moth rainbow and mica to pop!
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT CARD - Clear-embossed moth backgrounds and Mica-smeared cardstock
Size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Featuring:
Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Stamp Set - Tiny Text Halloween
Tim Holtz Distress Mica Stain Set 1 - Flickering Candle
Additional supplies linked in the Supplies Gallery at the end of this post, but the *NEW release products are only linked throughout the post.
The moths are clear embossed onto black cardstock
The small puddle (3/4") Flickering Candle Mica Stain is mixed with water on a craft mat and randomly smeared vertically onto the embossed background
The "I Put A Spell On You" Sentiment from the Bold Frights set is embossed in Gold Glitter Embossing Powder over the moths
The other sentiments that are stamped from the Halloween Tiny Text set
BOO CARD - Clear-embossed moth backgrounds and Mica-smeared cardstock
Size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Featuring:
Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Stamp Set - Tiny Text Halloween
Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Ink Pad - Worn Lipstick, Speckled Egg, Shabby Shutters, Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade
Additional supplies linked in the Supplies Gallery at the end of this post, but the *NEW release products are only linked throughout the post.
The background is created using the selected Distress Ink Pads pressed onto a craft mat, liberally sprayed with water and then applying the Watercolor Cardstock into the ink for some ink-smooshing. This first layer of the background will have a very light color
Once the ink-smooshed layer is dry, the Grime stencil is used to create additional ink splotches in the same color tones as the ink beneath the stencil. The Hipsters, "Boo" sentiment and the spooky "labels" from the Rest in Peace set are then stamped directly on top of this layer
I never though of myself as a Halloween kind of gal, but I had so much fun putting these together in a style that feels authentic to me.
Encouraging you to get out of your crafting comfort zone and make something that will joy!
Hugs Lovelies, as usual, don't forget to tell me which one was your personal favorite.
See you soon!
