Simon Says Stamp - STAMPtember Blog Party

Updated: Sep 18, 2021

Hi Lovelies!

Welcome Simon Says Stamp's STAMPtember 2021 Blog Party!!! I don't think that it gets any more epic than a STAMPtember release; there's something for everyone!

I've linked key supplies throughout and the full supply list for today's projects is at the bottom of this post, so when you shop for the items you want, remember to use the Q928NNU code when you check out so that you can get a FREE* Large Happy Birthday Die with any purchase of $30 or more!!!

With so many options to pick from it was hard to focus at first, but I settled on the fabulous 3D Embossing Folders and the versatile XL Greetings 3 Stamp Set!

I adore ink-blending but wanted to challenge myself to go for color combos that I have not used before to keep the technique fresh. The cards are finished with eye-catching sentiments and delicate die-cuts.

Key Supplies

Let's take a closer look at each card. We will use the ink-blending to enhance the beauty and the lines and definition that the embossing folders give the paper. They are super easy to put together and I'll walk you through each one.

MAKE ME SMILE CARD - Stripes of Ink-blended Color on Embossed Card Stock with Large Diecut Sentiment, Leafy Metallic Diecuts and Jewels

Size: 3 1/4" x 6 1/4"

Featuring:

Card Notes

  1. The embossed layer measures 2 1/2" x 5 1/2". I embossed a larger panel that I cut down to this size and saved the remnant for another project

  2. In this card, the horizontal lines of the embossed patterned are used to mark shifts from one color to another and ink is blended onto the paper using a blending tool or brush

  3. The embossed and inked cardstock is layered on top of copper metallic cardstock (2 5/8" x 5/5/8") that gives it a teeny 1/16" border to separate it from the kraft cardstock base

  4. "You Just Make Things Better" is heat embossed onto black cardstock and diecut using the matching die from the coordinating die set. This is popped up with foam tape before being adhered to the embossed layer with sprigs of leaves from diecut from copper metallic cardstock tucked under it

  5. The metallic and embossed layer are popped up using foam tape before being adhered to the Mini Slimline cardstock base

  6. Tim Holtz Metallic Baubles and Pink Fresh Studio Jewels are adhered to the card front using Bearly Craft Glue

I adore how these colors melt into one another.

Jewels and bling for the win!

All done!

HERE FOR YOU CARD - Circles of Ink-blended Color on Embossed Card Stock with Simple Diecut Sentiment, Floral Diecut and Metallic Baubles

Size: 4 1/2" x 6"

Featuring:

Card Notes

  1. The embossed layer measures 4" x 5 1/2". I embossed a larger panel to give me more space for blending that I cut down to this size

  2. In this card, the radiant circular pattern of the embossed patterned is used to ink-blend color from onto the paper starting with a dark blue circle and then adding additional rings of neutral colors using a blending tool or brush

  3. The embossed layer is popped up using foam tape before being adhered to the 4 1/2" x 6" white cardstock base

  4. "Here For You" is stamped onto white cardstock, trimmed to 7/16" x 3 3/8" and layered on top of silver metallic cardstock (9/16" x 3 1/2") which gives it a 1/16" border and this is then popped up with foam tape

  5. A single crocus bloom diecut from white cardstock is tucked under it and everything is adhered to the embossed layer as pictured

  6. Silver Tim Holtz Metallic Baubles are adhered to the card front

I love bright colors but these blends are just as enchanting.

The baubles give a simple, striking finishing touch.

JUST A CARD - Stripes of Ink-blended Color on Embossed Card Stock with Simple Diecut Sentiment, Floral Diecut and Metallic Baubles

Size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Featuring:

Card Notes

  1. The embossed layer measures 3 3/4" x 5 1/2".

  2. In this card, the facets of the crystal become the dividing lines between the ink colors that are applied using a blending tool or brush. Use a pencil to light trace jagged lines that divides the embossed pattern into 5 segments, then apply the color.

  3. The embossed layer is layered on top of copper metallic cardstock (3 7/8" x 5 1/2") with a teeny 1/8" border on the left and right sides, to separate it from the white cardstock base. These layers are popped up using foam tape before being adhered to the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock base

  4. "Just A Card To Say I'm Thinking of You" is heat embossed onto black cardstock and diecut using the matching die from the coordinating die set. This is popped up with foam tape before being adhered to the embossed layer with the etched flowers diecut from copper metallic cardstock tucked under it

  5. Everything is adhered to the embossed layer as pictured

  6. Yellow Pink Fresh Jewels are adhered to the card front with Bearly Craft Glue

Look closely to see the lightly traced lines! LOL

Here is the road map to the ink blending for this design:

There is something magical about this folder.

The copper cardstock further brings out the beauty of the embossed layer.

I love the simplicity of these cards.

With just a little effort you can have a big impact.
