Simon Says Stamp - July 2021 Card Kit, Garden Greetings

Updated: Jul 13, 2021

It's time for a new Simon Says Stamp Card Kit and this one is fancy, with beautiful florals and tones of grey, white and pink!

Apart from the usual goodies to make cards, I was so tickled to get a Simon Says Stamp Mesh bag AND a matching Tape Runner as part of this Kit!

Why am I so excited about a bag??? It's the perfect solution to keep my kit materials and is less bulky than the box which is helpful when I want to store it. If you are like, you don't use up all of your kit materials at once and sometimes want to keep the pieces of a kit together for a time. There is also enough room in here for me to store the

remnants of several kits!

Below are just a few of the gorgeous items in the kit: the Garden Greetings Stamp Set, the Blossom Field Embossing Folder and the Big Scripty Hug Dies. These are also available for purchase separately if you don't need the whole "kit n' caboodle"! Did you see what I did there. LOL

I made 3 easy cards for you today, all highlighting simple embossing techniques....wet and dry. The full supply list will be at the bottom of this post.

You Make My Heart Sing Card

I am not know for subtle color, but these gorgeous neutrals had me swooning!

I selected the long leaf spray from the Garden Greetings stamp set and wet embossed it using Simon Says Stamp Clear Ink and Wow Platinum Sparkle Embossing powder on a 2.25" x 5.50" strip of gray cardstock from the Kit.

I wanted a smidge more definition between the embossing and the paper so I ink-blended (around the edges only) some Hickory Smoke Distress ink onto my strip once I cut the paper down to size.

With that done, I selected and cut some coordinating patterned paper and a sentiment strip from Kit and began layering on a A2 (4.25" x 5.50") card base. The embossed strip was popped up using foam tape to create some dimension.

The card was then finished with alphabet sticker for the word "Love" and and clear sequins for a little extra sparkle that complements the embossing.

Get Well Soon Card

For this card and the next, I focused on dry embossing with inky highlights using a white pigment ink pad. The first though is this sweet "Get Well Soon" card:

The technique is super simple. Though you can ink the folder itself, I tried a different approach of inking the pattern on the paper after it was embossed. Any white pigment ink should work well for this. I wanted a subtle definition of this beautiful pattern.

I decided to do the embossing for both cards at once, so you will see that shown below and can set aside the black surface until you are ready to complete the last card.

I applied the the ink to the black and pink cardstock (A2 size) using one of my little rainbow brushes and Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Pad. Cut the pink cardstock down to 3" x 4".

Both the "Get Well Soon" and "Love You" sentiments are from the Garden Greetings Stamp Set. Spun Sugar Distress Ink is a great match to this pink cardstock and I used it to stamp the Get Well Soon sentiment which I then cut out by hand into a wonky shape. The love you sentiment was heat-embossed onto black cardstock using white embossing powder.

The A2 card base was stamped with one of the floral sprays from the Garden Greetings Stamp Set as shown and then flipped to stamp in the same position in the opposite end of the paper.

Layer the card elements as shown and embellish with pink rhinestones from the Memory Box Fairy Pastels set or use sequins from the Kit!

Hugs Card

I always want to be spreading sunshine and cheer, but sometimes we need to comfort and console and this clean and simple card can do that:

The focal point again here is the white-inked dry embossing on black cardstock paired with the Hugs die-cut. The Hugs outline diecut and the word diecut is stacked 3 (in grey cardstock) and 2 times (in silver foil cardstock) respectively to create dimension.

The black card base was cut down to 3.75" x 5", so I could showcase more lovely patterned paper from the kit that I thought went well with the floral design on the black embossed layer.

This card is finished with the "At This Difficult Time" sentiment from the Garden Greetings stamp set.

Let me know in the comments which card is your favorite today.
