Simon Says Stamp - Wall Decor Series - Love, YOU

Hi Lovelies!

I shared the first installment in this Series earlier this month with the Slay Every Day Wall Art, which I will keep up in my craft room all year. However, today I want to share what I put into my second shadow box frame; I'll use this frame to have different seasonal displays throughout the year!

February is usually crammed with Valentine's Day fare focused on celebrating your sweetheart. Though I adore all of that, I wanted to focus on something that we tend to lose sight of...taking care of and loving yourself, hence Love, YOU.

I hope that you will enjoy this project this project series and will follow along with me throughout this year as I update this frame with new seasonal panels.

With that said, let's review the key supplies for today's project:

For the full list, check out the Supplies Section at the end of this post.

Love, YOU WALL ART - Stamping and Die-cutting

Wall Art Base: 8" x 8"

Stamped Layer: 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Featuring:

COLOR PALETTE

PROJECT WALKTHROUGH

STAMPING THE BACKGROUND

Trim a sheet of 110LB Neenah Cardstock to 6" x 6" and secure the cardstock inside your MISTI by attaching Frog Tape Delicate Surface Masking Tape to the back side of the cardstock.

The Concentric Hearts Stamp is sectioned to allow you to stamp each ring of the heart in a different color.

One-by-one, ink and stamp each section of the ring with the selected color and then after stamping, wipe away any ink residue from the section with a wet rag to avoid any contamination.

NOTE: DO NOT STAMP the "you" from the "Love You" sentiment. I changed my mind and decided I wanted to use glitter die-cut letters for the "YOU" word. You will not need to create the white cardstock layer that I used to cover up the original stamped "you".

Close-up to see the colors better! Trim the stamped layer to 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".

DIE-CUTTING/LAYERING THE SENTIMENT

Die-cut using black, Flamingo Glitter and White cardstock. Layer and adhere. NOTE: You DO NOT need the white backing for the "YOU" die-cut, I only did it to cover up the "you" that I stamped by accident!

Adhere your die-cuts to the stamped layer. (ignore white marks on picture, it got corrupted in processing :-) )

CREATING THE DISPLAY BASE

  • Using the Tim Holtz Guillotine, trim 2 pieces of Chipboard to 8" x 8" and ~5 1/2" x 5 1/2". Trim 1 sheet of 130lb White Cardstock to 8" x 8".

  • Adhere the stamped layer to the ~5 1/2" x 5 1/2" chipboard and the white cardstock to the 8" x 8" chipboard using the Elmer's Spray Adhesive.

I attached some attached some velcro from my stash to the back side of the stamped layer. If you are using the hook and loop stickers I linked in the supplies, I would use at least 2 at each of the four corner to ensure that it stays in place when mounted.

The second photo shows the other side of the velcro once I removed the protective layer shown in the first pic and pressed the stamped layer onto the white cardboard-backed layer.

I like that the velcro makes the stamped layer "float" against the white background.

Something about that pink glitter heart makes me happy!

This is going to look great in my craft-room, but this positive message doesn't have to be limited to the crafting space!

Don't forget to leave me a comment and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon Lovelies!
