I know....this is a lot, but it is a special card to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime moment. So whip out your patience and let's make something beautiful.

There are so many goodies in this release but I am focused today on a few key things for these two cards.

Key Supplies

This is a two-fer project where we put in a bit of effort to color the background stamp and get two cards out of it. So let's get started!

Prepping the Background

  1. Cut the Simon Says Vellum Cardstock down to 5.75" x 5.75"

  2. Rub the Anti-Static Pouch over one side of the vellum and then secure to the inside of the MISTI base or similar stamp positioning tool with a strip low-tack tape. Tip: You can use the tape as a handle for when you are embossing

  3. Ink the stamp with Simon Says Stamp Clear Ink and stamp on the vellum

  4. Dust the inked cardstock with gold embossing powder and heat emboss

Coloring the Background

I am fond of Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers because even though they water-based, they blend beautifully and have a pretty low learning curve.

  1. Gather your preferred colors. I used color numbers:

    1. 021Light Carmine

    2. 028 Pale Pink

    3. 230 Pale Rose

    4. 260 Deep Red

    5. 063 Ochre

    6. 052 Bright Yellow

    7. 050 Yellow

    8. 053 Yellow Green

    9. 046 Mid Green

    10. 041Light Green

    11. 049 Green Shadow (not shown above).

    12. Tip: I recommend swatching them on the vellum so you can see exactly how they look on the vellum cardstock and how they look as an overall color scheme

  2. Yellow Flowers: One petal at a time, start with the darker yellow (052) in the part of the petal that is closest to the center of the flower and color about 1/3 of the way down the petal. Starting at the edge of the first yellow, use the lighter yellow (050) to blend the color out towards the edge of the petal. Rinse and repeat until all the yellow flowers have been colored.

  3. Flower Centers: Color as shown in pictures 5, 6 and 7 using 063, 260 and 230

  4. Pink Flowers: One petal at a time, start with the darker pink 260, in the part of the petal that is closest to the center of the flower and color about 1/3 of the way down the petal. Starting at the edge of the darkest pink, use the 2nd lightest pink 230 to move further down the petal. Continue with 028 and finish with 021 to blend the color out towards the edge of the petal. Rinse and repeat until all the pink flowers have been colored.

  1. Leaves: Color the thin spiky leaves in 053. Color the stripy leaves with 046 and 049, alternating segments of those leaves with each color. Starting with the darker green, color the last type of leaf with 041 and finish by blending out with 053.

When you are all done, it should look something like this:

Two of Our Favorite People Card

With the background done, each Card comes together relatively easily. I loved the font of the Simon Say Stamp "Congratulations" Die so much that I wanted to use it on both cards even though it's too long for the A6-sized format of this card. My solution was to perform a little surgery to make the diecut fit!!!

We'll get to all that shortly, but let's work on the other elements first.

Preparing the Card Base and Front Panel

  1. Diecut the white cardstock and vellum background as shown and using the Simon Says Stamp Nested Oval Die

  2. Prepare an A6-sized card base (4.5" x 6.25" folded) using Simon Sunshine Cardstock

  3. Using clear ink, stamp the Simon Say Stamp Delicate Flowers Background Stamp in Simon Says Stamp Clear Ink onto the front of the card base

  4. Layer the vellum oval on top of the white cardstock oval, adhering with tape runner such as Tombow Permanent Mono Adhesive

  5. Add foam tape to the back of the oval and set aside until you have prepared the other embellishments.

Embellishing The Card

  1. Diecut the white cardstock twice using the Simon Say Stamp Floral Bundle Die and adhere the diecuts on the stamped card base

  2. Diecut the white cardstock using the Simon Say Stamp Slimline Congratulations Die and snip the word into 3 sections as shown

  3. Cut the Simon Say Stamp "Our Two Favorite People are Getting Married" Reverse Wedding Sentiment Strips

  4. Assemble and layer all elements as shown to finish the card

All done!

Meant For Each Other Card

A little bit of color goes a long way in this Standard-sized Slimline card that takes full advantage of that gorgeous Simon Say Stamp Slimline Congratulations Die.

  1. Decorate the Simon Says Stamp Slimline Card Base as shown with the 2 Floral Bundle Diecuts diecut from white cardstock

  2. Trim the strip of colored vellum to 3.50" tall for the front of the card

  3. Diecut the Simon Say Stamp Slimline Congratulations Die twice: once out of white cardstock and then out of gold foil

  4. Layer these diecuts on top of one another with a very slight offset to reveal a hint of the gold layer on the bottom

  5. Cut the Simon Say Stamp "You Were Meant For Each Other" Reverse Wedding Sentiment Strips and add foam tape to the back

  6. Assemble and layer all elements as shown to finish the card

That was easy! :-)

Coloring on vellum with Zigs is very rewarding for me as I find it to be very forgiving. And forgiveness is very important with my level of coloring skills. LOL

Let me know in the comments if you like which card you preferred.
