I got to play with a few stamps and dies and both of the new tools from the Cozy Creatures Release and have 6 projects for you today, so let's get started!
Card 1- Friends Forever
Lovelies, I am the only person in the world that has no interest in Pumpkin Spice or coffee. Once you pick your jaw up from the floor and forgive me, take a peek at what I made with the fun Friends Forever Stamp and Die set. BTW, my cup is full of tea or hot chocolate. LOL
So many wonderful sentiments to go with these mugs so that you can personalize to your heart's content. I know that I am going to keep coming back to this stamp set.
Anyone who has seen my Instafeed knows that I have a major thing for ink-blending, so I am positively delighted that Altenew now has an NEW Ink Blending Tool in a smaller format. I put those puppies to work for these rainbow cups.
Choose your personal rainbow of favorite colors and get some stamp masking paper and/or a few sticky notes and try this for yourself.
The top-left pic shows the mug-lid and the "heat-guard" stamped, cut out and applied to another stamped mug using masking paper.
The bottom-right picture shows the straw masked with small sticky notes (I would like to apologize for all the sticky notes that were sacrificed for this process).
To accentuate that amazing sentiment, I masked off the middle section of the card base and got my little ink-blending tool back out to create a grey band with Limestone Crisp Dye Ink.
With that, all that's needed is to arrange the cups, straws and add a few decorative elements from the set.
Don't you just want to make some for your BFFs?
Card 2 - Do All Things with Sincerity
The Sweet Flowers Stamp and Die Set are perfect for some quick layering. You get an outline image and two layers for color on the blooms and stems.
I paired it here with the stunning Beautiful Bergina 3D Embossing Folder for a dimensional background and another chance to test out my small Ink Blending Tools.
With Autumn in mind, I selected Crisp Dye Inks in yellow and coral tones for the stamping: Fresh Lemon, Honey Drizzle, Coral Bliss, Vineyard Berry.
For the light ink blending on the embossed background, the flat, firm surface of the brush works well, as I wanted the Citrus Burst and Pink Pearl Crisp Dye Inks to primarily sit on top of the raised portions of the background and not go too much into the crevices.
The hardest thing about this card was choosing whether I wanted my "sentiment band" color to coordinate with my card base. As you see I ended up choosing the dark orange color for the over a contrasting yellow option.
Card 3 - Life Begins
The designers for this release have done delightful things with the Birch Forest Stamp Stamp Set. I had such fun doing something very easy with low-tack painter's tape.
First, I grabbed Crisp Dye Inks in cool tones: Persian Blue, Teal Cave, Just Green and Bamboo. Inked my tree trunks as shown below and stamped on an A2 piece of cardstock with a ~1" strip of painter's tape running across it.
Now simply and gently remove the painter's tape to reveal a space for your sentiment and stamp it to finish the card.
Card 4 - Happy Holidays
I loved the chance to get festive with Altenew's Festive Clusters Die Set. Who am I kidding? I love any chance to get festive with Altenew! LOL
You get two intricate dies in this gorgeous set!
I love watercolors and want to get back to playing with them more. If you are interested in exploring watercolor, Altenew has several amazing watercolor sets to chose from. I grabbed three rather fluorescent colors from my stash and made a puddle of vibrant color for my background:
Once that was dry, all that gorgeous floral die-cut needed was a sentiment. The colors are non-traditional for the holidays, but that's what I like about it.
Card 5 - Thanks
I went back to ink-blending for the Hello Hydrangea Stamp and Die Set. I know I have a problem, the first step is admitting it.... LOL
This set comes with a lush hydrangea bloom that is also perfect for watercoloring, so I will have to come back to it again some day to try that out. I am a big fan of the bold, graphic sentiments included in the stamp set that work beautifully with this generous bloom.
After giving my blending tools a bath, I used a selection of Crisp Dye Inks to shade my hydrangea: Soft Lilac, Hydrangea, Iceberg, Eastern Sky, Grass Fields, Shadow Creek and Citrus Burst.
For the background, I used some of the smaller floral elements to randomly stamp a pattern on my solid color cardstock using a watermark ink. Tip: You can get the same effect by using a shade of ink darker than your card stock. I then made a small banner using a contrasting purple cardstock for my sentiment to complete the card.
Here she is! Why "she"??? I don't know, just go with it. LOL
Project 6 - Marker Toppers Decal Set - Small
I just recently got my Altenew Artist Markers, which are Alcohol Ink-based. They came "numbered" with codes that organized them in color families which I thought was swell!
I clearly did not know what I was missing because Altenew has released color-coordinated Decals so that you can easily see the color name and icons to be directed to the nib of your choice (brush or bullet).
And they arrived a few days after I decided to get a "long-nail" manicure so I was terrified about trying to pick up small things.... okay, you can stop laughing now:
I had little confidence that I would be able to select and affix them to my Artist Markers, but look what I did and it was easy!!!!
I love these little things and I can actually read the marker names without my glasses!
I think that I connect with the names easier than the codes. The names are on the silver label at the "back of the marker, but the font is tiny. The names align with the Crisp Dye Ink names so it all makes sense when you are trying to pick colors.
You can elect to put the "nib" decals over the existing icons on the marker barrel on the side with the Altenew logo. Or you can elect to put them on another side of the barrel like I did with the Firebrick marker above. The decal with the marker name goes perfect on each of the caps.
As you can see, I got half-way done, before I need to take pics for y'all, but sometimes it's really the small things that make a big difference!
