Hi Lovelies!

Welcome to Day 1 of Simon Says Stamp's You Are My Favorite Blog Hop! I'm celebrating Moms with today's card. Moms are most definitely on the favorite list and I can't believe it, but Mother's Day is almost here!

This release included gorgeous die-cut florals, layered stencils, pretty sentiments and shimmery new paper. I decided to use all in this understated card with a quiet palette and a retro feel, that I think my Nana would be proud of.

MOTHER'S DAY CARD - Stenciling, Stamping and Die-cutting

Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

COLOR PALETTE

Pawsitively Saturated Ink Pads

Stenciled Background - Peachy, Clay, Punch, Sangria, Cabernet

Die-cut Flowers - Clay, Sangria, Sage and Celery

CARD WALKTHROUGH

STENCILING

Trim white Neenah cardstock to 4" x 5 1/2" and place on 7" x7" or 8" x 8" Craft Tacky Mat to hold the paper in place for stenciling.
Place the first stencil layer over the cardstock and press into the mat to secure.
Use a Blending Brush, inked with one of the selected colors to apply color through the openings in the stencil.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all 5 stencil layers have been used.

DIE-CUTTING & COLORING DIE-CUTS

Die-cut Simon Shimmer Ice Vellum using the Petal Tipped Label Die for the front panel.
Repeat the die-cut with white cardstock for an inside panel for the sentiment. Using a Large or Small Blending Brush, gently blend color around the perimeter of the Petal Tipped die-cut for the interior of the card.
Die-cut Spellbinders Merlot Cardstock using the Mother's Day Die. Also create a folded cardbase from the same cardstock.
Die-cut white cardstock to using the Poised Primula dies.
Place and press the die-cuts into the Craft Tacky Mat to hold in place for coloing.
Use Round Detail Blending Brush, inked with one of the selected colors to apply color to the flower parts, starting with the lighter colors and then adding darker tones.
Assemble and adhere the Primula die-cuts using Craft Glue.

STAMPING

Ink-blend, stamp and trim the "On this" sentiment strip for the card front.
Stamp the sentiment for the inside of the card on the ink-blended Petal Tipped die-cut for the inside of the card.

ASSEMBLING THE CARD

Arrange the flower and sentiment die-cuts on the vellum background as shown and cover with Glad Press & Seal Film.
Use the film to lift the die-cuts off of the vellum.
Use foam tape to adhere the stenciled background to the card base.
Use a tape runner to adhere the vellum die-cut to the background.
Adhere the die-cuts on the film to the vellum using Craft Glue.
Adhere the inside sentiment die-cut to the interior right flap of the card base.

This card feels like a bit of a throwback to me to the colors and some of the patterns that I was familiar with when I first started crafting. Though my Nana isn't around any more she inspired this card and it was a joy to make and honor her memory.
