Simon Says Stamp - STAMPtember® 2023 Blog Party

Hi Lovelies!

Welcome to Simon Says Stamp's STAMPtember® 2023 Blog Party! There are sooo many pretties in this release and today's card will be an easy one, that you can do in a rainbow of colors if you like!!

I grew up in the Caribbean and the entryway leading to my house was lined by hibiscus on either side. So it was no surprise that I went reaching for the Hibiscus Cluster Embossing Folder along all the choices we got with this release. The Cosmic Layered Butterfly is the star of this show though! I hope you will make this with me and also do be sure to visit the Simon Says Stamp Blog to check out all the other STAMPtember Blog Party projects!

I am using earthy tones with a pop of color today; nature's beauty is always a winner in my book. I just wish i had a green thumb!

I do have a "card thumb" though so let's get started and review the key supplies for today's card.

THINKING OF YOU CARD - Ink-blending, Die-cutting, Embossing, Inking Embossed Designs

A2 Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Embossed Layer: 4" x 5 1/4"

Featuring:

COLOR PALETTE

Today we will use both Distress Inks and Distress Oxide: Antique Linen, Forest Moss, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron and Crushed Olive

EMBOSSING AND INKING EMBOSSED IMAGE

Trim a piece of Neenah 110lb White Cardstock to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" .

Ink a Background Blending Brush with Antiques Linen Distress Oxide and gently brush over the raised sections of the embossed image to highlight them

Gently ink-blend a little of the same ink over the top and bottom right and along the right side of the embossed layer.

DIE-CUTTING AND INK-BLENDING

Ink a scrap of white cardstock directly with the Antique Linen Oxide Ink Pad.

Die-cut with the Fancy Thinking of You Die and also die-cut a piece of white cardstock to create a second layer.

Adhere the layers with Bearly Craft Glue.

Use the Round Detail Blending Brushes to ink-blend the two Cosmic Layered Butterfly die-cuts. Blend from b bottom to top in the following order, Crushed Olive, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Forest Moss.

Color the body of the butterfly and the accents on the wings with Forest Moss Ink. Layer and adhere the overlapping butterfly die-cuts as shown. Shape the wings with your fingers to a more natural shape.

ASSEMBLING AND EMBELLISHING

Adhere the sentiment with the craft glue and attach the butterfly with foam dots to pop-it up. Place rhinestones on the butterfly wings to embellish.

A few Cafe au Lait pearls finish this simple but pretty card.

Now imagine making this butterfly in different monochromatic hues. You could swap out the sentiments easily and make a bunch of cards for your stash!

You could also switch up your embossing folder as this layout and technique is perfect for switching things up. I will link a coup of additional folders and sentiments that you can consider in the Supplies section.

This is too easy not to give it a try!
