Updated: Nov 11

Red embossed Christmas Card with All The Joy sentiment.

Hello Lovelies! Is there such a thing as too much shimmer? Let's find out with today's embossed Poinsettia Jubilee Card.

We are going to start with some lazy inking and then move onto to some unrestrained Spritzing to color this Christmas Card. If you struggle with a messy card, this may not be the one for you. 🤣 We're using 8 colors from Tim Holtz's first Distress Spritz release.

PROJECT WALKTHROUGH

EMBOSSING

  1. Emboss Distress Watercolor Cardstock using the Poinsettia Jubilee Embossing Folder.

  2. Trim the cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4".

COLORING WITH PAWSITIVELY SATURATED INK

  1. Use Round or Flat Detail Blending Brushes to apply the Pawsitively Saturated Ink colors to the embossed Poinsettia Jubilee cardstock as shown below.

  2. Use a brown water-based marker to color the "branches" as shown below.

COLORING WITH DISTRESS SPRITZ

  1. Place the embossed panel inside a Splat (or similar cardboard) box.

  2. Shake and uncap each Distress Spritz color.

  3. Mist with water from a Distress Sprayer to help the inks start to flow/mix together.

  4. Spray the Spritzes onto sections of the cardstock with similar colors. Use Weathered Wood to help fill in the white spaces.

  5. Dry on a low setting with a heat tool.

  6. Use the nozzle to splatter the panel with Walnut Stain droplets and then heat set again.

DIE-CUTTING & FINISHING

  1. Die-cut Soft Navy Cardstock using the Merry Christmas sentiment Die.

  2. Die-cut Matte Gold Cardstock using the Pine Needle Cluster Die.

  3. Adhere with Craft Glue to the embossed background.

  4. Use foam tape to adhere the embossed panel to a Soft Navy card front.

  5. Use Craft Glue to adhere the Butter Gems to the embossed panel to finish.

Tilting the card in the light shows the true magic of the Distress Spritzes!

I love the imperfection of the colors flowing outside of their intended spaces and mixing together and the Gems just further highlight all that shimmer!

You have to tell me if this is too much sparkle for one card.

I love embossing folders, but haven't used one quite like this. Thank you for the wonderful inspiration!

I love this card! I just used some spritz sprays for the 1st time and I LOVE them. Never too much glimmer, especially during the winter holidays. I like the detailed instructions on how you made your card. Can't wait to try my hand at it with the sprays I have.
