Simon Says Stamp - HI THERE Card

Hello Lovelies! I was not expecting to find a Toucan in the pre-Valentines Hugs release from Simon Says Stamp. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with Milo at first, but when I goT the "Hi There" Die in the Kisses release, I was inspired to put them together!

For todays card we'll use COPICs to color most of our die-cuts. I have quite a robust stash of solid cardstock, but sometimes its more convenient, more efficient, less wasteful and easy to create creative effects by using your markers to color just what you need to make your card!

Here's a closer look at today's key supplies:

COPIC COLORING

MILO THE TOUCAN

Let's do the easiest coloring first to assemble Milo. His body will mainly be cut out of Black Pawsitively Velvet sheet, but we will color all the other pieces with COPIC makers as shown below. It's gonna look pretty ugly at first but it will all come together when we assemble Milo!

Don't forget, this little one like I did!

LEAFY FRAME

  • color the entire frame with YGO1

  • add shadows and deepen the colors of the pointy leaves with YG23, also darken the color of the spines/add little flecks to the rounded leaves with YG23

  • add accents to and deepen the color of the spines of the pointy leaves with YG07

STAMPED SENTIMENT

DIE-CUTTING

MILO THE TOUCAN

Cover the small dies with Very Very Low Tack Tape to hold them in place for die-cutting.

Die-cut Milo's body twice: once out of black cardstock and then out of black Pawsitively Velvet cardstock

Layer and adhere with Bearly Craft Glue as shown below:

Milo is done!

FRAME & SENTIMENT

Die-cut a second Leafy Frame out of Slate Cardstock.

Die-cut Hi There 3 times out of Bright Yellow Cardstock

BACKGROUND & SENTIMENTS

Follow the pics for assembly of the die-cuts. Emboss White 80 or 110lb cardstock use the Dibble Dots folder.

Assemble and adhere the die-cuts and background to finish.

After all the careless scribbling I did with my COPIC markers, I'm so pleased with how the coloring of the leafy frame came out!

The cheerful colors of the sentiment, brighten up what could be a somber message.

Milo is very easy to love and his friendly greeting will bring a smile to the recipient's face!

Last look at our happy "miss you" card!

Hopefully got to know Milo a little better and will try using your markers to color your die-cuts.

Thank you for stopping by and see you soon!
