Remember when setting the Thanksgiving table was an absolute event? Gathering around the kids' table, arranging paper decorations, and soaking in the golden afternoon light are memories that stick around forever. I told myself I was going to keep things ultra-simple this year, but a sudden wave of autumn nostalgia. It was very likely induced by the Tim Holtz Leaf Prints 2 Stamp Set and the convenience of the Simon Says Stamp Coordinating Dies, inspired me going the extra mile to create these napkin rings.

There is something so comforting about rich, warm tones as the leaves start to fall, and I couldn't resist bringing a piece of that vintage holiday magic to my table this season. These glossy, gold-foiled leaf napkin rings give off all the nostalgic, hard-candy vibes of childhood holidays past.

Key Supplies for Leaf Prints 2 Thanksgiving Napkin Rings

The Crafting Secret Weapon: Zero Fussy-Cutting!

Let’s be entirely honest for a second: as much as we all love intricate details, fussy-cutting detailed leaf points with tiny scissors is enough to ruin anyone’s festive mood.

That is where my main secret weapon came to the rescue! The coordinating dies from Simon Says Stampofficially signed my retirement papers from tedious cutting. I was able to whip through a whole stack of leaf shapes in a fraction of the time.

CARD HIGHLIGHTS

Bringing the Vintage Autumn Vibes to Life 🍁✨

To recreate that heirloom, time-tested look, I used a multi-layered ink-blending process:

  • Stamping the Detail: Using the stunning Leaf Prints 2 set from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous, I stamped a variety of maple, oak, and seasonal leaf shapes. Apply 2–3 different ink colors directly onto the Leaf Prints 2 stamp before pressing onto watercolor paper to create instant color mixes.

  • Creating the Watercolor Look: Mist the inked stamps with water and stamp again to create an artsy feel to the coloring of the leaves.

  • Layering Color & Texture: After coloring them with vibrant Distress Ink Pads I misted the die-cuts with Distress Spray Stain for an organic, aged gradient.

  • Adding Sparkle & Shine: A few quick splatters of Distress Spritz provided just enough metallic shimmer to mimic glistening fall dew drops.

  • The Hard-Candy Finish: To seal everything and make the colors pop, I put on a pair of gloves coated each piece with a smooth layer of UV Resin - Clear Hard Type. I added a few small gold foil flakes to the wet resin before curing. You can cure this with a UV lamp in about 300 seconds or place in the sun to cure. Once cured, they turned into shiny, glass-like keepsakes that feel totally durable.

  • Sentimental Touches: Tied with rustic natural twine, each leaf is paired with a little vintage metal charm bearing encouraging phrases like "Own Your Dreams" and "Be You Bravely" to give guests a sweet token to take home.
