Hi Lovelies!

Can you believe Altenew has been around for 11 years??? Clearly we need to celebrate! Welcome to the first day of the Altenew 11th Anniversary Blog Hop!

I hope you made it over to me after checking out the delightful Dana Joy's work. Also, if you did not start the hop at the beginning, be sure to visit Altenew's Blog Hop Post and enjoy all the amazing inspiration!

Scroll all the way to the bottom of this post and share a comment before you leave to participate in this SPECTACULAR Giveaway. Be sure to leave comments by April 29, 2025 for a chance to win one of 76 prizes! To make the hop more exciting, start your comment with "Hi from (city or country where you're from)!" 76 winners will be chosen at random from the comments left on any of the blogs listed below and will be announced on the Altenew Blog on May 4, 2025.

I'll tell you more about the Special Offer at the end of this post so stick with me! I've been making a lot of cutesy cards lately, so I thought I'd do "big girl" cards today in sophisticated color palettes. You'll have to let me know if I got it right.

Two embossed floral cards, one orange with yellow daisies, and one yellow with pink flowers.

KEY CARD SUPPLIES

Can I confess that I bought all these crafty treats many months ago and today is the first time they made their debut on my desk??? Who else is guilty of great intentions and no actions with their supplies? Anyway, I hope you can see why I fell in love with them. Let's go over all the key supplies:

The full list is shown in the Supplies Gallery at the end of this post for your convenience.

Today's GIF!

Do you think this cake is big enough for this 11th Birthday Party?

COLOR PALETTE

Today we are coloring with paper instead of ink or markers. I was tickled pink when Altenew released it's Crafty Necessities line of cardstock. It's a rainbow of gorgeous colors for every type of project you can imagine.

I got a little help choosing my colors as this is the stage that usually stumps me when crafting. I always have to be inspired by something, a piece of fabric, a painting, nature, Pinterest, and then I try coordinate my colors. My latest fave is the Sarah Renee Clark's Color Cubes; sometimes I try to match the palette exactly and at other times like today, they get me off to a good start.

These were the inspo palette I chose for today's cards. Not matching, but they gave me ideas.

Color swatches with sunset and table setting images. "Love" card on plate. Pink flowers, butterfly sticker, and decorative items in background.

CARD HIGHLIGHTS

Once you've chosen your colors, these cards come together SO easily. I've taken a few pics to so you can follow along as you don't need much direction for this layout.

The keyhole (3rd pic on the right below) system that Altenew uses for these layering die-cuts make matching and aligning the flowers to the leaves simple. If you need more help, Altenew offers a great layering guide on their site with it's own color inspo!

PREPARING THE FLORAL DIE-CUTS

CREATING THE BACKGROUND AND SENTIMENTS

Just two quick tips here:

  1. Die-cut 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Buttercream and Caramel Toffee cardstock using the deckled edge frame from the Mix and Match Frames set, leaving a sufficient border on one side to create the die-cut sentiments.

  2. The sentiment backgrounds are die-cut first and then taped into my MISTI to hold in place for stamping.

Let's take a closer look at this pair because Altenew gives you SO many reasons to smile when creating.

CELEBRATING YOU TODAY CARD

Embossed yellow card with floral patterns overlaps orange card with daisies. Pink paper peeks out. Bright, detailed textures.
The deckled edge frame shows just enough of that Moroccan Tile embossing.

Pink and white paper flowers on dark stems with green leaves, set against a yellow textured background with ornate top edge.
These cardstock colors are so YUMMY!

Close-up of a yellow embossed card with pink flowers and text "Celebrating You Today" in black. Elegant, celebratory mood.
The Sentiment Strips stamp sets are a great go-to for so many types of cards.

Yellow card with pink and dark brown floral design, embossed border, text "CELEBRATING YOU TODAY." Set against layered pink and orange cards.

LOVE YOU SO MUCH CARD

Layered cards with embossed patterns: orange with a blue flower, yellow with pink and black floral design. Text: Celebrating You Today.
Does the embossing look more distinctive here?

Paper art of yellow daisies with blue stems and leaves on an orange background. Decorative patterns in the top left corner.
There's something pretty happy about these flowers.

Orange card with embossed details, blue and yellow floral design, text "YOU ARE SO LOVED" visible, creating a warm, heartfelt mood.
Big hugs to Altenew for their Anniversary!

Orange card with embossed floral design, blue accents, and "YOU ARE SO LOVED" text. Background has yellow flower and butterfly.
