Tim Holtz Fall 2024 Distress Glaze Organizing and Card

Hello Lovelies! What a lovely palette of Distress Glaze we got this Fall from Tim Holtz and Ranger! At first glance I was both excited and puzzled by the color selection, but the more I looked, the more delightful the colors were.

Of course it doesn't matter as each of these glazes coordinate with their family members across the Distress line and can be used stand-alone or in whatever combination of other glazes you prefer. Getting to know a new crafting item always involves labeling and swatching for me. This time I elected to use Simon Says Stamp coordinating leaf dies for Tim Holtz's French Garden stamps for the swatches (which will become today's card) and then Tim's Stacked Tiles Hearts dies to color label my Glaze bottles.

Let's take a closer look what's needed for today's labeling and card. Also you can purchase the Distress Glazes individually or get the whole bundle from Simon Says Stamp.

COLOR LABELING THE DISTRESS GLAZES

Because of the way I store my Glazes, I can only see the tops when choosing them, I'm usually not matching them to another Distress medium (like Paint or Ink), so the color name does not matter, I just need to see how the glaze looks when applied. That is where the glazed hearts come in. If you store your glazes similarly or just like the look, then give it a try.

  1. Die-cut white cardstock using the Stacked Tiles Hearts Dies.

  2. Press a heart die-cut facedown on a Distress Embossing Pad.

  3. Cover with a Distress Glaze Powder and heat to melt the glaze gently and evenly. Repeat until all colors are done.

  4. Once cool, apply glue to the back and stick to the lid of the Glaze bottle.

CARD STEPS

  1. Secure a 4 1/4" x 6" piece of White Cardstock inside your Stamping Tool (like a MISTI).

  2. Stamp the leaf image from the French Garden all over the white cardstock to create a neutral background.

  3. Die-cut white cardstock using the Simon Says Stamp French Garden Leaf outline die, 6 times.

  4. Press the leaf die-cut facedown on a Distress Embossing Pad.

  5. Cover with a Distress Glaze Powder and heat to melt the glaze gently and evenly. Repeat until all colors are done.

  6. Set aside to cool.

  7. Using Distress Oxide Pads, stamp each of the letters for ENJOY from the Sign Painter Stamp Set in the coordinating colors as shown on the card and then die-cut using the Simon Says Stamp Sign Painter Die Set.

  8. Splatter the letters with Pumice Stone Spray or Distress Oxide ReInker. Heat set to dry.

  9. Trim the sticker to "TODAY".

  10. Once the glazed leaves are cool, apply craft glue to the back and stick to the background.

  11. Adhere Thin Foam squares to the back of the letters and adhere to the card front as shown with the "TODAY" sticker and some metallic jewels to finish.

Doing this brought me a lot of joy, something about these colors just delight. I hope you will be inspired to try this or put your own spin on it. Do leave me a comment with your thoughts please. It really does make my day and I am always happy to take any questions.

See you soon!
