I am so excited to do my first blog hop post as a guest designer for Altenew! You probably got here from the amazing Virginia Lu's blog and next you will be off to see what wonderful things Reiko Tsuchida is up to.
I love diecuts, as they are an easy way to make a card special and add dimension and interest to your handmade goodies. Today’s hop is all about Altenew's Texture Adventure Stand-alone Dies Release and features a fabulous Giveaway. Stay with me for details!
When I saw the Leaf Mix Die Set, I immediately wanted to create a rainbow from the many different designs, you get 14 in total!
I started with choosing bold, bright tones from my cardstock stash; one from each color family, ended up with 12 colors and got to work with my diecutter and a cupcake pan. I diecut all of the leaf designs in each color and placed each set into its own section of my cupcake pan.
Oh so cute and I have diecuts for days and the freedom to experiment with them until I am happy with my design. These diecuts are designed for layering, but they are also fabulous on their own. I arranged them in ROYGBIV order on a slimline-sized (8 1/2" x 3 1/2") card front.
I added a black Simply Friend diecut to stand out against all that color and used another die from this release (Featured Sentiments Die Set) to send an encouraging message.

Of course, I couldn’t stop with just one card, so I assembled the leaves in cool shades of blues and greens against a striking black backdrop for a bold graphic look.
This fun look is intentionally busy, but it all comes together with a Mega You diecut and a color-coordinated sentiment from the Mega Greetings 2 stamp set.
For my next card, I forgot all about leaves and made a flower in shades of pink and orange.
This set is so versatile, the more you look at it, the more possibilities that you see. Even with these three cards, I have many diecuts leftover which will allow me to quickly put together more cards or make tags or...
