Tim Holtz Ranger Halloween Mica Stains Comparison & Card

Hello Lovelies! Today's post is an excuse to share larger swatches of the Mica Stains from Tim Holtz's Ranger Distress Halloween 2022 Release. I am showcasing them side-by-side next to similar 2021 Mica Stains so you can clearly see the rainbow.

I also got out my Splat Box and sprayed up a quick card using Tim's brand new Sizzix Acorns Texture Fades Embossing Folder!

Simon Says Stamp has a full release bundle with all the new Mica Stains and other Distress goodies that are part of this Halloween release!

Here are the essential supplies for the card and swatch tags:

Tags are die-cut from Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I am using a retired die, but love the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Dress Up Tags Die Set which is a little larger with even more room to swatch!

CARD WALKTHROUGH

EMBOSSING

Place a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock into the ACORNS Embossing Folder and run through a die-cutting machine to emboss.

Also, place a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Black Metallic Cardstock into the QUILTED 3D Texture Fades Embossing Folder

COLORING

Place embossed paper in Splat Box and spray as shown with the following Mica Stains:

  1. Wicked Elixir

  2. Burning Ember

  3. Harvest Moon

  4. Decayed

Die-cut the Halloween Woodgrain Cardstock using the "Happy Halloween" Die.

Reserve the letters you need to make the words "Happy Fall", including an "E". Trim the "E" to create an "F", by cutting off the bottom and part of the middle.

Position the negative of your "Happy Halloween" die-cut (I am using a white cardstock so that you can see it more clearly in the photos) over your embossed panel.

Apply a wet glue to the back of each letter and insert it into its slot as shown to spell out "HAPPY".

Shift the negative diecut down a bit an to the right to position for the word "FALL" and adhere the "F".

With that in place you can add the the letters for "ALL" and then remove the negative die-cut.

Loop twine through your tag to suspend it below the die-cut letters.

Secure at the back with knots.

Adhere foam tape to pop-up the embossed panel.

Adhere the embossed metallic black cardstock to a card base and adhere the embossed card front on top.

Use a paintbrush and Distress Foundry Wax to add flecks of gold to the card front and use a heat tool to "set" the wax.

All done and ALL FALL!

Thank you so much for hanging out with me for this card; be sure to come back! Leave me a comment with your thoughts please. It means a lot and I am happy to take any questions.

See you soon!
